Design Example: New Range Of Cabinetry – Overlay Flat Panel Cabinetry with Oak Legs

The client came to us with a brief to transform the dated kitchen he inherited with his new home. The client had a clear idea about the style he wanted, so we developed a new range of furniture to suit his needs. It’s always exciting to develop a new range of furniture – as a designer I love the challenge!

The push-to-open mechanisms used to open the doors mean that the fronts can be left completely free from the clutter of knobs and hinges, creating a striking minimalistic look. This design uses overlay cabinetry, with flat panel doors and exposed Oak legs. The drawer cabinets contain 2 drawers, with a concealed drawer in the top – perfect for storing cutlery. The freestanding cabinetry, mixed with freestanding appliances creates a eclectic feel to the room.

The injection of natural Oak introduces a lovely warm colour and texture to contrast against the grey doors. The simplicity of the cabinetry allows the natural beauty and character of the Oak to take centre stage.

The client had plenty of beautiful crockery and pans, so display areas were a must. The open cabinets and open floating shelves display these wonderfully, and allow for quick access.
