Supplier Spotlight: Bristol Marble

We work closely with Bristol Marble and share a similar passion for providing excellent service so we’re pleased to be able to spotlight them and the great work that they do! We feel confident sending our clients to their showroom knowing that they will be well taken care of and leaving with an amazing bespoke product.

Who are you and what do you do?

Bristol Marble and Granite ltd are part of the Zanetti Group and we are a proud family run company based in Fishponds, Bristol with a passion for all things stone. We are one of the largest suppliers and installers of bespoke projects of natural granite, Arenastone engineered quartz, natural marble, slate and limestone in the country. We maintain a huge stock of slabs here for customers to view and select their material. We have a high-tech workshop on site to create each job with the latest cutting and polishing equipment used by our highly experienced tradesmen. Every finished job is then checked by our quality control team before it leaves us.

What is the best part of the job for you?

Without doubt, it’s our customers. As a company we pride ourselves on the fact that we genuinely care about each and every project – from window sills to worktops, bathroom vanities to fire hearths (and everything in between). We love spending time with our customers getting to know them and working with them to find the right material. This is the attitude for all of the Bristol Marble company – from the office staff to our installation teams, we are more than happy to spend as long as it takes to get it right. We take huge pride in what we do and get such a buzz from the customer’s reaction to the finished product.

How long has the company been around for?

Bristol Marble and Granite has been in existence since the 19th century and became a limited company in 1937. It was bought by the current owners in the mid 1960’s and we have been supplying and installing beautiful, bespoke projects ever since.

What is your favourite product and why?

That’s a really tricky question because it’s such a personal thing!! What works for one person won’t necessarily work for the next. The worktops are such a huge part of any kitchen and this is part of the reason that we invite our customers to come in and view the whole slabs of material before they make a decision – samples just don’t do the materials justice! Each slab is completely unique – with natural materials such as marble, granite, limestone and slate there is always a variation between batches and within the bundle themselves. Whilst the Arenastone slabs will be more similar to the samples as they are engineered, batches will still vary in colour, tone and texture so we still advise to view the slabs before making any final generic lamisil without rx decisions. When it comes to my own favourites, I must admit I change my mind regularly!! However, one of my all-time favourites is the Australian Juparana Satin natural granite. I just love the movement across the slab, how tactile it is and the story it tells – to me it looks like a satellite photograph of the Australian outback and the more I look at it the more I see! This is one of our specialist materials and every batch changes dramatically which I love – no two are ever the same!

What does Bristol Marble specialise in?

We specialise in all things stone! Whilst we do have an indoor showroom really that just gives a snapshot of what we offer. Our real showrooms are outside in our yard and warehouses. Here we keep slabs of natural granite, Arenastone engineered quartz, natural marble and limestone which are on show ready to be viewed and chosen by our customers. Another of the services we offer our customers after templating is to come in and mark up their slabs ahead of production – especially with the more intricate stones. This helps them decide which areas their tops are cut from and point out any areas they would like us to try and include / avoid as best we can.

What does sustainability mean to you?

The stone industry takes sustainability very seriously – after all natural stone is essentially nature’s original building product. There are so many beautiful and environmentally friendly reasons to use stone including its durability, ease of maintenance and the ability to recycle – not to mention the quarrying / manufacturing best practices. Here at Bristol Marble we are also proud to be eco-friendly too. We use the highest calibre of stones, which are sourced personally by our highly experienced purchasing team by visiting the quarries to see how they are excavated. At our Bristol based site we recycle eighty percent of our water through our filtration system, which is then re-used during the production process. All jobs are cut as economically as possible without compromising the grain direction to limit the wastage allowing us to get as much use from the material as possible.

What would be your #MeatFreeMonday recipe?

Well, I’m loving my soup maker at the moment and with ‘Great British Bake Off’ back on our screens I’m feeling inspired to bake. I think it would have to be some kind of soup – maybe roasted red pepper with homemade sun-dried tomato and garlic bread.

What are the trends coming up in your field?

Textured material is the hot trend at the moment – whether it be a satin, antique or honed finish. We have recently begun stocking two new textured Arenastone colours – Biscotto Concreto and Grigio Concreto which have been exceptionally popular!! Using cutting edge technology these materials have a satin smooth finish but the best part is that they have all the strength of the polished Arenastone slabs.
