We are hiring a Part-Time Designer or Design & Marketing Intern

Sustainable Kitchens, previously know as It Woodwork was established in 2008,

It ‘s an independent kitchen design and installation company, working with clients across the Southwest. The company has been growing from strength to strength and has expanded rapidly in the past year and now has a unique opportunity for the right candidate to make their mark.

About the role

Dependent on your experience and time availability there will be a variety of tasks for you to do. You will be working with the Head Designer and Junior Designer on our bespoke kitchen designs. You will be helping with room layouts and design alterations. You will also be required to help us design adverts and catalogues amongst other promotional materials. Ideally you will also be a keen writer and social media advocate. As we are a small team and we will need help in a variety of areas. You will also be working with the Head of Development with ongoing projects. You must be adaptable and able to complete a variety of tasks within the deadlines set.

Ideally we are looking for someone who has a broad range of skills and design experience. All the kitchen design work is on Sketchup Pro, so you need to have some understanding of the program, but we will provide training if you don’t.

We aren’t just looking for a designer but a candidate who lives and breathes design, someone who has their finger on the pulse of contemporary design innovations. We would like the successful candidate to be enthusiastic about their work and the kitchens industry. There will also be opportunities to write themed articles and communicate through social media channels.

Job Specifications

Duties may include:

Producing an accurate 3D drawing of the house/room
Assisting the designer with alterations
Producing promotional materials
Working with the head of Development with ongoing projects

Skills Essential

Basic knowledge of Sketchup Pro
Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Suite
Mac User
Good understanding of Excel and other Microsoft programs.
Good communication skills
Keen interest in contemporary interior design
Keen interest in learning about woodworking & carpentry
Interest in eco design and building solutions
Practical and logical
Ability to work well alone and in a small team
Use initiative
Good at problem solving
Team player

Skills Desirable

Experience with WordPress
Blogging/ writing experience
Social Media
Marketing experience
Full UK driving license

Personal Qualities

Friendly and approachable
Willingness to learn
Good attention to detail
A positive can do attitude


Design & Marketing Intern: 1 day per week, £6.50 per hour

Part Time Designer: 2 days per week (flexible on days) £8.00per hour

*(This will be a temporary 3month contract with the prospect of becoming permanent)

Working week: 8.30am – 5pm, Monday – Friday
