2016: Highlight of the Year
by Olga Alexandru
As 2016 comes to the end we asked everyone here what their highlight of the year was:
Sam Shaw, Founder & Director: It’s been an amazing year and it’s impossible to even pick a subject let alone a specific highlight from an incredible portfolio of projects, ventures into new territory, getting closer to our local community with projects such as our clock workshop whilst building strong relationships much further afield, to exposure in national magazines and newspapers. But I think the highlight to reflect on with most glee as I kick back in front of the fire with a mulled wine and a mince pie is the incredible way our SK team has worked and grown together to deal with this hugely transitional and exciting year. I just can’t wait for 2017.
Nicky Spear, Head of Development: My personal highlight of the year was the Eco Kitchen being featured in Ideal Home. It was such a beautiful feature and we couldn’t be more proud of the way the kitchen turned out.
Lindsay Anderson, Business Development Assistant: I really enjoyed going to Nailsea Electrical for appliance training. There are so many amazing new technologies developing in kitchen appliances that really do make a difference and help make your life a lot easier! Eco technologies are also developing such as the Bio Fresh in fridges helping to make groceries last longer helping to stop excessive waste.
Charlie Flemons, Senior Designer: My highlight of the year would be getting to go to the different design shows in London, getting inspired and seeing the latest trends.
Jess Couceiro, Designer: London Design Week was a great opportunity to see the companies that are at the forefront of award winning design. It was great inspiration seeing new ideas, trends and how others solve design problems. I felt very thankful to be given the opportunity to go, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Olga Alexandru, Marketing Executive: I would say my highlight of the year would be participating in Big Green Week! It was so great to be a part of the Bristol festival promoting sustainability. The best part was talking to people and helping them make their clocks.
Jake Shaw, Workshop Manager: Highlights for me were getting new machines in the workshop, Nailsea Electrical showroom and the new assembly space with stock cabinets. My favourite projects included a scaffold plank island, a veneered table top and box car oak larder cabinet.
