Fire Curtains in the Home

by Jane Denton

Fire curtains, used for years in the commercial environment, are becoming increasingly popular in the everyday home. With more and more of us wanting to open up our small and dark rooms into one large living space, we can forget how much protection these walls can offer us in the case of a fire. By removing the walls and doors that would have kept smoke and flames at bay, we are compromising our ability to exit safely in the event of an emergency.

It is here that we welcome the fire curtain into a domestic situation. Often mounted into the ceiling, invisible on an everyday basis, the curtain will come down when detecting smoke and fire. Therefore, allowing us to open up several rooms into vast open spaces, that can be divided again in the event of a fire.

Fire curtains are available in a variety of standard sizes, as well as bespoke sizing for those unique spaces. Completely compliant with fire and building regulations, a fire curtain can allow you to enjoy a beautiful open plan kitchen and living space, whilst maintaining peace of mind if an emergency should occur.
