Contemporary Grey Industrial Kitchen – The Brief
Our client came to us with a specific lifestyle in mind. An open plan kitchen, dining and living space was perfect for their family and guests, so they sought a decidedly contemporary aesthetic for their design. We went down the industrial route, as it perfectly echoed the rest of the home’s renovation.
A contemporary colour palette was key in achieving the look. To complement the stainless steel of the appliances, we chose Farrow & Ball’s Purbeck Stone to hand-paint the cabinetry. We sourced Arenastone Grigio Concreto for the worktops, which provides the look of concrete while adhering to more sustainable ethics.
A large, central island unit incorporates a breakfast bar; bespoke drawer and cupboard storage; tray and chopping board slots; induction hob and (of course!) a wine fridge. A lye finish was applied to the oak interior of the breakfast bar, echoing the grey of the cabinetry.
A walk-in pantry, with bespoke drawers and floating shelves, was also finished in lye. It was cleverly concealed behind a pocket sliding door, maximising storage for this busy family home. We also designed a boot room just off the kitchen, providing even more mess-defying storage. It has bespoke cupboards, open shelving, a place for shoes and a bench seat with a stow-away interior.
