The Cardiff Green Shaker Kitchen – The Brief

A kitchen renovation making great use of space in an open plan living-dining area in this impressive family home. With a U-shape kitchen, we used a low run of cabinetry to provide plenty of storage and to keep the space open and sociable in a stunning colour palette.

Between the kitchen and dining room, the peninsular was designed with drawer storage and ample worktop surface on one side, with a raised oak breakfast bar on the other, creating a sociable space for all the family. The peninsular sits directly over the floor transition tieing the two rooms together. The dark cabinetry contrasts against the pale grey tiles, parquet wooden floors, pale Bianco Concretto worktops and white glossy metro tiles.

We perfectly positioned the sink so that whoever’s turn it is to wash up can enjoy the view onto the long stretch of the garden, with integrated drainer grooves in the corner of the worktop to ensure space doesn’t go unused. We installed a shaker canopy to house the extractor above the Everhot range cooker painted in the same Farrow & Ball shade as the walls.

We designed a feature glazed cabinet to sit above the worktops, with wired glass door fronts, plain glass shelves and a contrasting colour painted inside. The open shelf unit was designed to display cookbooks and breakfast goodies for the mornings.

Moving into the dining room, we created a bench seat with low shaker panelling and a tongue and groove back panel that blends into the feature wallpaper. The bench contains discrete storage underneath, perfect to house the kids games and drawings to keep them occupied when dinner is cooking.

This wonderful home also showcases our alcove storage made from the same sustainable materials and processes as our kitchens, made truly bespoke. We designed two sets of wardrobes, one for the main bedroom and one for a child’s bedroom alongside a bench seat that sits just below the window to make the most of the garden view, whilst creating a place to play and read with storage underneath.

The lounge room houses our handcrafted units in the alcoves for the tv, consoles, books and other decor.

This beautiful home showcases the craftsmanship in our wide range of bespoke cabinetry made from quality sustainably sourced materials whilst displaying the clients unique and impeccable sense of style.
