Design Trends 2018

by Lindsay Anderson

It’s a new year, and we’re all looking forward to a change in the season and exciting new design ideas that Spring brings with it. We’ve done a round up of the latest trends that we’re seeing filtering through and can’t wait to get them into some kitchen designs.

Houzz is a great resource for design inspiration and sourcing professionals, they’ve put together their predictions for the design trends of 2018 here.

Colour blocking – Bright colours will see a comeback along with pastel hues with a mixture of graphic patterns, the 80’s are back!

We have an exciting project coming up that perfects this trend, with a plethora of Farrow & Ball colours on the cabinets, watch this space…..

Forest Green Foliage – We saw dark Green really coming through in 2017 and it seems set to grow stronger in 2018. With everything from dark green kitchen cabinets to rich green velvet on sofas all with an abundance of green foliage providing an organic touch.

Opulent Luxury – While it’s not going away, there does seem to be be a bit of  backlash to the minimalist Scandinavian look with the perfect antidote being opulent luxury. Rich, dark tones mixed with gilt metallic and warm textures such as velvet.

Dulux colour of the year 2018 – has been chosen as Heart Wood, a warm pink. We can see this sitting beautifully with dark greys and blending with oak and plywood, creating a contemporary muted palette.
